Overview

I had the opportunity to direct the teaser for Pimpinero: Sangre y Gasolina, a film by Andy Baez, shot in the vast and striking landscapes of La Guajira, Colombia. The challenge was to create a teaser that felt aligned with the tone, aesthetics, and narrative of the feature. This teaser was produced for Prime Video by Ufilms Latam, with the goal of generating anticipation and supporting the film’s communication strategy.

Challenges & Approach

The main challenge was to ensure that the teaser reflected the atmosphere of the film without direct visual references. To achieve this, we worked through meetings with the director, analyzing the themes, cinematic language, and character dynamics that define Pimpinero.
Filming in the same locations as the feature film allowed us to showcase the brutality of the desert and the sense of a lawless world. The staging, cinematography, and editing choices were designed to evoke tension and mystery.

The Result

The teaser effectively captures the essence of Pimpinero, creating intrigue through its visual storytelling. The cinematography, pacing, and sound design reinforce the classic cinema atmosphere, making it a compelling preview that strengthens the film’s identity and builds anticipation.
